The Trouble With Us
03:07
|
|||
That's the trouble with you
The trouble with me
The trouble with us
The trouble with you
The trouble with me
The trouble with us
We both raise the stakes
But no one wants to call the bluff
If she's runnin' her mouth
You, you're makin' a fuss
I know how it goes because....
That's the trouble with you
The trouble with me
The trouble with us
We both raise the stakes
But no one wants to call the bluff
Well, you got a long fine
When you're both in denial
I know how it goes because....
That's the trouble with you
The trouble with me
The trouble with us
We both raise the stakes
But no one wants to call the bluff
Is it love, is it luck?
Is it guilt, is it lust?
I know how it goes because....
That's the trouble with you
The trouble with me
The trouble with us
We both raise the stakes
But no one wants to call the bluff

Blood Money

Blood Money
That's what you get
Blood on your hands and your soul is dead
Blood money
That's what you get
Sleep tight, punk, and I'll see you in hell
You chicken-shit hiding there behind red tape
Throw the book at me, punk, I'll break you arms and legs
Regulations fees and penalty payments
I bet you're creamin' at the mention
It's a trap-door society, a gilded cage
And I'm maxed out, overdrawn, behind due-date
You'll get everything you say I owe the man
But there's one thing, punk, I want you to understand, it's...
Blood Money
That's what you get
Blood on your hands and your soul is dead
Blood money
That's what you get
Sleep tight, punk, and I'll see you in hell
Well, I'm a rat race runaway, a renegade angel
A dead-end contender and in love with danger
All you money-grubbing, jack-booted thugs, you devils
You ought take a long hard look at yourselves
'Cause there's real consequences if you force my hand
Who's to say that you can count on that I'm a peaceful man
If the next guy in line should get a bullet in the head
I tell you, might as well pulled the trigger yourself, 'cause it's....
Blood Money
That's what you get
Blood on your hands and your soul is dead
Blood money
That's what you get
Sleep tight, punk, and I'll see you in hell

Sweet Talk
03:00
|
|||
Now I don't have to listen to your sweet talk anymore
No, I don't
I don't have to worry about you waitin' for me behind the door
When there's something that you want
It's an all out war
You lie and you cheat
Then you come back for more
Now I don't have to listen to your sweet talk anymore
No, I don't
I don't have to sit through another one of your little shows
You're twisting all the facts
You're putting on an act
You smile to my face
But you laugh behind my back
Now, I don't have to listen to your sweet talk anymore
No, I don't
I don't have to suffer by your sickly need to control
Here you come again
With those big blue eyes
You lie through your teeth
To get on my good side
Now I don't have to listen to your sweet talk anymore
No, I don't
I don't have to put up with your white lies or your sugar-coatin'
You're twisting all the facts
You're putting on an act
You smile to my face
But you laugh behind my back
Now I don't have to listen to your sweet talk anymore
I don't have to worry about you waitin' for me behind the door
(Don't worry 'bout it)
Now I don't have to listen to your sweet talk anymore
(Don't listen to it)
(Like I've said a millions times)
(I don't have to listen to it)

Court Records
02:17
|
|||
Well, click-clack-clicking, typing with long nails
The court clerk taking down what's being said
A little family of three stands before the judge
Her best shoes, his good suit, everyone's dressed up
I got those court records in a drawer somewhere
They been layin' in there for all these years
Well, I was too young to remember even being there
Like everything else it vanished into thin air
My one and only memory from the time growing up
Yeah, all I can remember is just ridin' on the bus
Didn't know where I was going, I just knew where to get off
When I saw my granddad wavin' I knew that was my stop
Then there's you, who had some other place to be
I can almost see your face, like in a distant dream
Comin' home from work, single shift at the asylum
And then all the added pressures of dealing with a family
I asked my daddy 'bout it once and he just shook his head
He handed me the papers, said you can read for yourself
But I guess I was too busy or I made sure that I was
I lived the rock n' roll life and I was all caught up
I fell in love and like always it's supposed to last forever
We took pictures on the day that we moved in together
And the dresser with the drawer with the records came along
Like a silent reminder of everything that was wrong
Well, some feelings you block out, some things you close off
The court records was a thing I was too scared to touch
But then you go full circle when your daughter moves out
You start thinking one day, just sitting there on the couch
That there had to be a reason why you did what you did
But under any circumstances how do you do that to a kid?
Yeah I imagine myself now in that court room on that day
Feel the warmth of sun on the back of my own head
Propped up in the middle, listening to the judge
Not knowing that's the last time our hands will ever touch
You let go of your grip and the sun got in my eyes
I'm gonna have a little drink and dig out those court records tonight...

Upstairs
03:19
|
|||
Well, yeah
Let's go upstairs
Well, yeah
Let's go upstairs
I'll take a short detour and I'll see you there
Well, maybe
I had a glass of red wine
And baby
We had a real good time
I left something in the kitchen
I'm just gonna swing on by
So yeah
Let's go upstairs
Well, yeah
Let's go upstairs
I'll take a short detour and I'll see you there
Well, maybe
I took a little too long
And baby
I just thought of a song
I didn't know where I was
When I woke up this morning
So yeah
Let's go upstairs
Well, yeah
Let's go upstairs
I'll take a short detour and I'll see you there

Not So Tough Anymore
03:03
|
|||
You used to talk that talk before
You used to sit up on your high horse
You used to look down your nose
But now you're laid out, flat on the floor
- Bye bye, hit the door
Now you're not so tough anymore
There was a time when you were high on the hog
In the pecking order you're top dog
On the playground with your cohorts
I walked right up and put your head through the wall
Then -Bye bye, hit the door
Now you're not so tough anymore
You used to talk that talk before
Said you've been bad since the day you were born
But like the time when we were seven years old
Yeah, one day I will knock you out cold
Then -Bye bye, hit the door
Now you're not so tough anymore

A Heart Of Stone
02:48
|
|||
Well, you used to be sweet, you'd smile and say hello
Everytime we'd meet but now you've changed your tone
A heart of stone
Yeah
I feel so alone
When did you get a heart of stone?
You used to gimme a little wink just to let me know
That you still remember times long ago
A heart of stone
Yeah
I feel so alone
When did you get a heart of stone?
Well, I remember I held your hand and the full moon shone
These days when I see you babe, you seem so cold
A heart of stone
Yeah
I feel so alone
When did you get a heart of stone?
